In our last blog we discussed and show how to upgrade VCF Operation 9.0.2 to 9.1.x .

Once the VCF Operation is upgrade to 9.1 we now proceed to upgrade the SDDC Manager to 9.1. Before we do that connect to the depot and make sure we have the bundle downloaded. if Not we can download it now i.e. SDDC Manager , NSX , vCenter and ESX Binaries .

In this Blog we will cover two Parts 1 is SDDC Manager upgrade and other part is to download the binaries for Deploying VCF Managed Services . With that said lets dive into the upgrade steps .

Detailed Step-by-Step Upgrade Steps

Phase 2 : Upgrade SDDC Manager to 9.1

  1. Login to the VCF Operations Manager -> Build -> Lifecycle -> VCF Instance -> MGMT Domain -> Prechecks

Note : Since we are not having VSAN as primary storage we can ignore the ERROR msg.

  2. Take a Snapshot of SDDC Manager

  3. Login to the VCF Operations Manager -> Build -> Lifecycle -> VCF Instance -> MGMT Domain -> SDDC Manager Updates -> Click on UPDATE NOW

  4. It will take a min to show the Progress as in Progress meanwhile it will be in scheduled update like below

  5. Once the upgrade starts you will see the below screen it took 20min for me to complete the SDDC Manager upgrade

  6. After the upgrade is complete you will see the SDDC Manager Version as 9.1.0 marked in Yellow . What you see in Green Mark outline is our next step for getting ready to Deploy the VCF Management Services .

In my next blog we will talk about what is VCF Management Service (VCMS ) , how was VCF managing the management before , what has changed in VCF 9.1 with this new feature and the prerequiesties and deployment steps of VCFMS .
